Food Choice for Families at FYC!

Choice for Struggling Families

Food for Struggling Tulsans
Visit any supermarket, and there is a huge array of food items.

However, for low income people, food choice is often very limited.

Last December, John 3:16 Mission started a new Food Choice Program to give struggling families more choices when it comes to feeding their families. (To see if you are eligible, see bottom of article.)

“We could see the need was there,” said FYC Director, Brian Bost. “We wanted to expand the products and choices available to people who really need help.”

The new program allows clients to “shop” a small “store” inside the Family & Youth Center. The move through the aisles selecting items that make sense for their own families. They are limited to a certain number of each item.

“What’s really great is that we also have some fresh produce and even meats when available which we didn’t have before,” Bost said.

All the food is donated from Mission supporters, local stores and some comes from the Food Bank. No one is charged to shop the store, but they may only come once a month.
